Insight Global Quality Engineer in Aurora, Illinois

Job Description

Insight Global is assisting with identifying a Product / Supplier Quality Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Aurora, IL. you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products and maintaining strong relationships with our suppliers. Your primary role will involve assessing product and supplier quality, identifying, and resolving quality issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate with senior management and suppliers, and play a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with quality standards and regulations.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System and Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements, including maintaining high-quality work standards, adhering to good documentation practices/recordkeeping, following good manufacturing practices (GMP), and promoting a safe working environment.

  • Review and assess manufacturing and supplier processes: Conduct thorough evaluations of product non-conformities from the manufacturing plant floor or suppliers.

  • Identify quality issues: Perform tests and assessments on incoming products from vendors to identify recurring errors or quality concerns. Take appropriate actions, including returning defective batches to suppliers.

  • Maintain documentation and reports: Prepare and maintain detailed reports related to supplier quality, defect rates, and areas within the manufacturing process that contribute to flaws. Provide initial reports for vendor selection and update them regularly to reflect changes in vendor processes.

  • Provide technical guidance and assistance: Offer expertise and advice to suppliers and internal decision-makers. Provide recommendations on process enhancements and improvements, as well as strategies to reduce defect rates. Collaborate closely with the production floor and vendors to implement these recommendations effectively.

  • Communicate between suppliers and senior management: Act as a liaison between senior management, customers, and vendors. Facilitate meetings to identify and address supply quality issues, working collaboratively to find solutions. Gather and disseminate information to ensure effective communication flow among all parties involved.

  • RoHS compliance: Take ownership of the process for documenting and managing the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliance of Bill of Materials (BOM) parts in the final product. This includes gathering or producing certifications, maintaining documentation, and managing RoHS compliance within our ERP system.

Skills and Requirements

ISO certified manufacturing facility standards 13485 (medical) or 9001 (automotive, aerospace)

 2+ years of professional experience

 Quality engineering background: specifically audit supplier experience, discuss non-conformances and how to resolve them

 Data analysis, specifically non-conforming trends, monthly tracking based on supplier performances, selection of audits, update and set out results

 Comfortable traveling to supplier sites (mostly within the state, sometimes around USA) Bachelors degree

 Medical device experience null
