Insight Global Wireless Network Engineer - REMOTE in Erlanger, Kentucky

Job Description

A fortune 500 organization is seeking a Wireless Network Engineer that can work fully remote for a contract to hire role. As a key member of the Tech Ops Infrastructure Engineering team you will fill a critical role supporting the transformation of wireless networking systems and solutions across the company, and subsequent ongoing continuous improvement. The goal of which is to create reusable wireless network platforms that can be deployed for offices, multi-building campuses and manufacturing facilities. This could be through the creation of strategies, roadmaps and implementation plans, creating low level engineering designs or by providing subject matter expert (SME) level support to the Operations teams. The role will suit an individual who enjoys working collaboratively with Engineers and Architects to create holistic solutions incorporating a wide range of systems and technologies, and who is able to bring creativity to the solutioning process.

You will work closely with other Engineers who have specialized skills while cross-training within the company's core technologies. Both they and you, will be constantly learning from each other.

Role Responsibilities

  • Create wireless network engineering solutions and designs within defined standards, or proposing new standards when required, ensuring that designs work holistically within larger solutions.

  • In close collaboration with cross functional architecture teams, develop strategies and roadmaps which support the introduction and continuous improvement of next generation wireless network and control systems across all areas of the company.

  • Actively develop Software Defined Wireless Networking models and introduce automation solutions across Wireless platforms.

  • Work closely with the Networking Operations teams to introduce AiNetOps into existing wireless network platforms and future wireless platforms.

  • Design roadmap implementation projects, communicating with stakeholders and operations teams to ensure delivery.

  • Maintain a good awareness of Operations activities through regular communication with operations leads and by attending update meetings.

  • Create build instructions for engineering designs, and support operations teams during implementation.

  • Undertake requirements analysis of incoming requests ensuring deliverables are clearly understood and agreed with stakeholders.

  • Proactively seek out opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes and propose improvement activities.

  • Incorporate security-by-design into all solutions, ensuring that security requirements are considered concurrently with technical requirements.

  • Work closely with Tech Ops tower leads as an escalation point, providing SME support to operations teams assisting with P1/P2 incident resolution.

  • Align with 3rd. party vendors when appropriate to create engineering solutions and continuous improvement proposals.

  • Collaborate with Architects to propose, review and implement new standards and technologies.

  • Carry out continuous personal development, ensuring technical skills are kept up to date and non-technical skills are gained and improved.

  • Develop a base cross functional technical knowledge allowing holistic thinking during design processes.

  • Carry out technical reviews of change requests and designs created by other teams.

  • Work with Operations teams to analyse RCA's and design action plans.

Skills and Requirements

5+ years of experience with Software Defined Wireless Networking Platforms and Network Automation

Experience building repeatable and reusable wireless environments for offices, campuses, manufacturing facilities

Experience with network automation tools

Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of wireless networking technologies and standards, and global wireless implementations

Experience of creating technology roadmaps based on strategy inputs CWDP or CWNE Certification

Experience with AiNetOps solutions null
