Job Description
Day-to-day:
An employer in the San Antonio, TX area is looking for an Electrical Designer, This person will be working for an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) firm and will play a crucial role in designing and implementing electrical systems for various construction projects. Here are the key responsibilities and skills associated with this role:
· Designing MEP Systems: Electrical designers collaborate with architects, engineers, and other team members to create detailed electrical system designs. They ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards while considering energy efficiency and sustainability.
· Coordination: They work closely with other engineering disciplines (such as mechanical and plumbing) to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into building designs.
· Drawing Preparation: Electrical designers prepare detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. These documents guide contractors during installation.
· Project Meetings: They actively participate in project meetings to discuss progress, address challenges, and coordinate with stakeholders.
· Inspection and Troubleshooting: During construction, electrical designers inspect installations, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
· Commissioning: They assist in commissioning electrical systems, ensuring they function correctly and meet performance expectations.
Maintenance Planning: Electrical designers may also contribute to maintenance planning and updates after construction. This position can pay between 70-85k depending on experience.

Skills and Requirements
· Completion of high school or technical school with courses in computer-aided drafting or comparable experience
· Experience as a drafting and engineering technician in MEP projects of varying scales
· Proficiency in GIS/AutoCAD/MicroStation
· Strong verbal and written communication abilities
· Skilled in engaging with developers, customers, and officials from public agencies
· Aptitude for nurturing robust relationships
Adaptability to immediate changes in work assignments as project requirements evolve null
