Insight Global Cost Engineer in Vancouver, British Columbia
Job Description
Insight Global is looking for two Cost Engineer to join one of North America's largest retail and wellness companies. The ideal candidate will be overseeing and optimizing cloud spending across the organization to ensure cost efficiency and identify opportunities for cost reduction. The individual will be monitoring cloud usage to detect and address cost anomalies in real time, preventing unexpected expenses by partnering with architects and engineers across the organization. It is important that this candidate has an exploratory mindset and is a self starter.
Additional Responsibilities:
Analyze cloud usage patterns to recommend and implement savings plans and reserved instances, ensuring optimal cost savings.
Work with different software development and engineering teams to advise on architecture and resource optimization, waste management, capacity management, KPI development and maintenance, tagging and alerts enhancements
Develop comprehensive reports highlighting cost-saving opportunities and be able to clearly present and communicate recommendations and findings to different engineering, Finance and leadership teams
Clearly communicate cost management strategies, savings opportunities, and progress to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Stay updated on cloud cost management best practices and continuously seek out new opportunities for cost savings.
Work to fully understand our product and the way it is architected and deployed in the cloud, and the associated costs for each portion of the environment
Recommend savings opportunities related to cloud commitment purchases (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, Committed/Sustained use) and track utilization of these commitments
Partake in creating, maturing, automating, and governing Cost Optimization policies and best practices

Skills and Requirements
Has 4 years of experience in cloud cost management and analysis
Experience with Native Tools in AWS (Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, Cur Reports, or Cost and Utilization Reports), Costability, and Azure Cost Management
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Has either been an Engineer previously or has understanding of cloud engineering terminologies
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically - Enterprise level experience null
